Alcohol Sales Restrictions in Thailand
Thailand has strict regulations on alcohol sales and consumption.
Sales Times
Alcohol can only be sold between 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM – Midnight.
Sales outside these times are prohibited except in some duty-free areas and hotels for international tourists.
Legal Drinking Age:
The legal drinking age in Thailand is 20 years old. Selling alcohol to anyone under this age is illegal and punishable by law.
Dry No Alcohol Days
Alcohol sales are banned on certain public and religious holidays, including:
- Makha Bucha Day
- Visakha Bucha Day
- Asahna Bucha Day
- Buddhist Lent (Khao Phansa)
- Election Days (local and national)
- King Bhumibol Memorial Day
Location Restrictions
Alcohol cannot be sold or consumed near temples, schools, hospitals, or public offices.
Penalties
Non-compliance with alcohol restrictions can result in fines, imprisonment, or revocation of business licenses.
